Our Privacy Approach

Finance Forest: Net Worth is built to track sensitive personal financial data without sending that data to our own servers. The app is designed around local storage, iCloud sync through Apple services, and user-controlled backup/restore.

Data We Process in the App

The app stores the information you choose to enter, including:

• Snapshot data: dates, account balances, assets, liabilities, currency and FX values
• Account data: account names, account types, subtypes, status, and related notes
• Planning settings: FIRE assumptions such as age, target age, and annual expenses
• App preferences: currency, masking preferences, reminder settings, and onboarding state

No Proprietary App Backend

We do not operate a proprietary app backend for your financial records. That means we do not store your net worth snapshots, account balances, or FIRE plan data on our own remote databases.

Where Your Data Lives

On-device storage

Your app data is stored locally on your Apple device using Apple platform storage frameworks.

iCloud sync (enabled by default)

iCloud sync is enabled by default. Your data syncs across your devices using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and remains tied to your Apple ID, subject to your Apple account settings and Apple's policies.

Security Features

• Biometric lock: you can require Face ID / Touch ID to unlock the app
• Apple platform protections: local app storage and iCloud services rely on Apple's device and account security model

Network Connections and Third Parties

FX rate lookup (optional in snapshot flow)

When you use live FX rate loading, the app makes a direct request from your device to Frankfurter's rate API:

• Endpoint used by app: api.frankfurter.dev
• Purpose: retrieve current currency conversion rates
• Data sent: currency pair query parameters and standard network metadata

We recommend reviewing third-party privacy terms when using external data services.

Apple services

The app may use Apple services such as CloudKit (for sync) and UserNotifications (for on-device reminder scheduling), based on your permissions and settings.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device (for example weekly, monthly, or quarterly reminders). You can disable reminders at any time in app settings or iOS settings.

Backup, Restore, and Data Control

The app supports exporting and restoring data backups (JSON) through Apple file pickers. These files are handled by locations you choose (such as Files/iCloud Drive). You are responsible for protecting exported backup files.

• Export: create a local backup file
• Restore: import a previously exported backup file
• Delete/reset: clear app data from within the app or by removing the app and related cloud data per Apple controls

Website Analytics Note

The Finance Forest marketing website may use website analytics tools for site traffic measurement. This is separate from the Net Worth app's in-app financial record handling.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not receive your in-app financial records through our own backend. If you have a privacy concern involving a child, contact us via support email and we will address the request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy over time to reflect app changes or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
