Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Your financial data is deeply personal. Finance Forest: Portfolio is built with a simple principle: your data belongs to you and only you. We don't operate any servers, we don't collect any analytics, and we have no way to see your portfolio, holdings, or dividend information.

What We Collect

What We DON'T Collect

• Personal Information: No name, email, phone number, or any personally identifiable information
• Financial Data: We never see your portfolios, stock holdings, dividend payments, or cost basis
• Usage Analytics: No tracking of how you use the app, which screens you visit, or how often you open it
• Device Identifiers: No device IDs, advertising identifiers, or fingerprinting
• Location Data: We don't access or track your location
• Crash Reports: We don't collect crash logs or diagnostics

Data Stored on Your Device

All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

• Portfolios: Your portfolio names and organization
• Stock Holdings: Ticker symbols, share counts, cost basis, and purchase dates
• Dividend History: Historical dividend payment records fetched from Tiingo
• Cached Market Data: Current prices, company names, and dividend yields

This data remains entirely under your control and can be exported or deleted at any time.

API Key Storage

Finance Forest: Portfolio requires a Tiingo API key to fetch stock and dividend data. Your API key is:

• Stored in the iOS Keychain: Apple's most secure on-device storage, protected by hardware encryption
• Never transmitted to us: The key is sent directly from your device to Tiingo's servers only
• Under your control: You can update or remove your API key at any time in Settings

We never have access to your API key at any point. It is stored and used entirely on your device.

Third-Party Services

Tiingo API

The app connects directly from your device to Tiingo to fetch stock prices, company information, and dividend history.

• What is sent: Your API key and stock ticker symbols
• What is received: Stock prices, company names, and dividend payment data
• Connection: Direct from your device to Tiingo (HTTPS encrypted). We are not involved in this connection
• Tiingo's website: tiingo.com

You create your own free Tiingo account and API key. We have no affiliation with Tiingo and no access to your Tiingo account.

iCloud (Apple)

The app uses iCloud to sync your portfolio data across your Apple devices.

• Data synced: Portfolios and stock holdings
• Handled by Apple: All sync is managed entirely by Apple's CloudKit service
• We have no access: We cannot read, access, or monitor your iCloud data

Data Export and Import

Finance Forest: Portfolio allows you to export your data as JSON and import stock holdings via CSV:

• Exported files are saved to a location you choose on your device
• No data passes through our servers during export or import
• You are responsible for the security of exported files

Children's Privacy

Finance Forest: Portfolio does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no advertising, no tracking, and no social features.

Data Security

• Local Storage: All data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework with device-level encryption
• Keychain: API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain, protected by hardware-level security
• iCloud: Data is encrypted by Apple during transmission and storage
• Network: All API calls use HTTPS encryption

Your Rights and Controls

• View Your Data: All your portfolio data is visible within the app
• Export Your Data: Export your complete portfolio data as JSON at any time via Settings
• Delete Your Data: Remove individual stocks, portfolios, or uninstall the app to remove all local data
• Remove API Key: Delete your stored API key at any time in Settings
• Disable iCloud Sync: Turn off iCloud for this app in your device's system settings

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top

Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
